Thanks to the electronic components in the fully integrated ReBeL shaft gear, MRK capabilities are possible. This makes the ReBeL robot suitable for
industrial and private applications as a cobot or service robot.
It is up to 2x lighter than other cobots and does not require a control cabinet, as the control system is integrated in the base. The Rebel is ideally suited for mobile applications, pick-up and delivery services, pick & place tasks or as an assembly aid.

The weight of an end effector will decrease the available payload of your robot.

The motor controller is addressed via the CAN bus; a simple protocol is used. This protocol is not compatible with CANopen. A description of the interface can be found here:

An example project including source code in C# helps with the initial implementation. These can also be found under the link above. Both examples use the PCAN-USB adapter from Peak-Systems to establish the connection from USB to the CAN bus. Other adapters can be used accordingly.

In this customer application, a traditional task from the functional and quality inspection domain has been automated using a collaborative robot. Previously, this task required a dedicated worker. Thanks to the deployment of the cobot, this worker can now be assigned to more complex and value-added tasks. The cobot takes over the repetitive and monotonous inspection processes with high precision and reliability. The investment in the cobot was relatively low and paid off completely within a few months, leading to significant cost savings and increased operational efficiency. Additionally, the cobot improves working conditions by relieving employees from tedious tasks, allowing them to develop further and take on more demanding responsibilities.

In this specific customer application, a cost-effective solution for loading and unloading a laser engraving machine was sought and successfully implemented. The igus ReBeL robot takes on the task of picking up the parts to be engraved and precisely placing them into the machine. Subsequently, a linear system equipped with a laser engraving head carries out the engraving process. Once the engraving is complete, the robot removes the processed part from the machine and places it for further processing or packaging.

Thanks to the low cost of the cobot, the investment in this automated solution pays off in a very short time, making it particularly attractive for companies looking to reduce their production costs while simultaneously increasing efficiency.

The setup of our ReBeL robot and the integration of the IRC are shown, as well as the operation of the rotary conveyor and the camera for precise detection and positioning of the workpieces. The gripper is demonstrated in action, handling the workpieces safely and efficiently. The step feeder supports the process with its precise conveying technique, ensuring that the entire system operates smoothly and efficiently thanks to reliable power and data transmission. The benefits of this solution include increased production speed, reduced scrap, and improved workplace safety. In this customer application, plastic parts needed to be sorted correctly using vibration so that they could be recognized by a camera and picked up by a robot through coordinate transmission. This was necessary to ensure precise and efficient handling of the parts. The RBTX Varioshaker lite, a cost-effective product designed for simple applications from the RBTX range, was used in this example.

The Varioshaker lite was combined with a Rebel robot, an ifm 2D camera, and a Schunk EGP 25 gripper. The ifm 2D camera captured the position of the sorted plastic parts and transmitted the coordinates to the Rebel robot. The robot then used the Schunk EGP 25 gripper to precisely pick up and process the parts. This combination provided an efficient and cost-effective solution for the automated handling of plastic parts.

Adhesive and dispensing processes are complex operations that, when performed by humans, have a significant potential for error. This is due to the precision and consistency these processes require - attributes that are difficult to achieve when performed manually. Moreover, direct contact with the materials and substances used in these processes can lead to health issues, including skin irritations and allergic reactions.

In our most recent customer test, we demonstrated how these processes can be automated efficiently and cost-effectively. Through automation, companies can not only improve the quality and consistency of their products but also ensure the health and safety of their employees.To illustrate the automation, we simulated the process using a pen on the original component.

This served to demonstrate the accuracy and precision of the automated system. It showed how the system is capable of performing the same task over and over again with the same level of accuracy - an ability that is difficult to achieve when performed manually. This test served as compelling evidence of the benefits of automating adhesive and dispensing processes.

In a current customer test, three similar workpieces are being used to demonstrate the efficiency and precision of a cobot. The cobot is programmed to pick up the components independently and insert them correctly into a fixture. This task demonstrates the cobot's ability to handle different objects and position them precisely, which is crucial for the automation of assembly processes. Cobots offer added value in production thanks to their flexibility and adaptability, as they not only increase efficiency but also help to reduce the workload on employees.
